Raúl Ciudad Calls to Boost R&D during Important Congress
The Fifth Codelco Technological Rapprochement Seminar, 2010 finished Friday June 4th with highlighted speeches by entrepreneurs on asset management, mining operations, automation and sustainability.
“If Chile does not invest in research, innovation and development, it will never become a developed country,” began the presentation at the round table, “Connectivity and Innovation for Mining in the Digital Era,” commented Raúl Ciudad, COASIN Group CEO as part of his participation in the Fifth Codelco Technological Rapprochement Seminar, 2010.
The executive added that in Chile, it is urgent that innovation policies must be redirected to eliminate obstacles and thus optimize the increase of patents. He likewise confirmed the need to fine tune the virtual triangle that is generated with the company, government and universities to boost R&D.
Regarding the mining market, Raúl Ciudad affirmed that Codelco has been a great support for the companies that have dared to innovate in the country and took the opportunity to call to ICT companies to give an example and form R&D laboratories, putting this issue, which is vital to the country’s development, on the cutting edge.
The event, hosted by Soledad Onetto, included the participation of the Corporate VP of Codelco Norte, Sergio Jarpa, the Senior VP of Cisco, Charney, the VP de Honeywell, Frank Whitsura, and other important IT and mining Entrepeneurs.
